Youth Life-skill Innovation and Voluntarism in Education
For us education is beyond classroom and books and it is the lifelong learning process for emancipation of disadvantaged communities towards a better society. It makes people responsible to make this world a better place to leave in, and attain new heights of intellect with common wisdom. The fine balance of development with environment is key to sustainability over generations. Our educational initiatives focus on Adolescent Education with active support from Jamshetji Tata Trust - Adolescent education - through active participation of adolescent and young population in citizenship. The pilot initiative has focus in 40 villages of Benabad block in Giridih and experiences adopted in other areas as well. Adolescent education process - Enhancing skills and motivation to explore Self and Society. Building up effective communications and assertive behavior Real life learning Pilot actions for active citizenship. Working with School Management Committees, Educational Institutions for their Capacity Building Development of new TLMs and pedagogy to aid the learning pace. Process & Interventions - Peer Groups - More than 800 adolescent connected with peer based learning events. Life Skill Education Prerana Kendra - 200 students and out of school experiencing remedial coaching and creative assignments for self paced learning Project Work - Responsible citizenship Linking Innovation & Voluntarism in Education The Youth Lifeskill, Innovation and Voluntarism in Education (U-LIVE) programme has made a very positive impact in lives of 1600 children from 40 Govt. schools of Bengabad block. Many of the youth have become active volunteers now and facilitating as change agents in their locality. "Kaam Mango Abhiyan" under the initiative of Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India was launched statewide and the youth facilitated the job demands through motivation and awareness in Bengabad block as well facilitating reconstitution of Forest Protection & Management Committees. These efforts have eased the life of families living under poverty and crisis, making good use of their rights and facilities under Govt. schemes. Computer aided life skill education for girls We call it FAT centre! Feminist Approach to Technology is an organization and mission to promote life-skills among girls using computers and other technologies. The programme is a journey with adolescent and young girls for their mainstreaming as active citizens. We are collaborating in FAT centre based learning activities with 54 girls at present. |
